When falling from a height, being thrown from a car or getting hit on the head, a person
can suffer head neck and spine injuries. They are traumatic accidents. As a result of
those traumas, the victim has behavioral and mental problems, for example
unresponsiveness, confusion, stumbling, repeatedly asking the same questions, memory
loss, nausea or vomiting ,speech problems.
It is necessary to check the victim to understand if he has neck or back pain, partial or
complete loss of movement of any part of the body, seizures or inability to perform
activities. After providing Check and Call, you should Care a person. Giving CPR or
controlling bleeding also help maintain the person’s body temperature and based on your
level of training care for any other injuries that may be present.
A concussion is a traumatic brain injury. It’s innovative the way the brain
functions. When the person experiences a bump below or shake that results in rapid
movement of the brain within the head. signs and symptoms of a concussion include
Dizziness , loss of consciousness , headache, confusion, blurred and/or double vision,
nausea, vomiting , memory loss and the inability to do activities that the person could
previously- those are the symptoms and signs of the concussion. First of all. You should
do Check and know if the person has concussion. Then advise a person to stop their
activity. If signs and symptoms are present, call immediately call 911. Then it is necessary
to provide first aid. It’s the same as for all type of injuries . Before the EMS Personnel
arrive, you have to continue caring the person.
After experiencing a concussion the victim can have behavioral and mental problems
such as unresponsiveness, confusion, stumbling, repeatedly asking the same questions,
memory loss, nausea or vomiting ,speech problems.

Student # 2 Emeli,
Head, neck, and spinal injuries can result from traumatic events including falling from a height,
being thrown from a vehicle, or taking a hit to the head. A head, neck, or spinal injury may be
suspected if you notice any of the following signs and symptoms: method of damage, change in
behavior or mental state, pain or obvious injury, loss of sensation or movement, and the ability to
perform tasks that the person could previously perform. Provide care for the person with a head,
neck, or spinal injury in accordance with your level of training after completing your check and
call steps. Traumatic brain injury such as a concussion changes how the brain functions. Anytime
a person receives a bump, blow, or jolt that causes fast movements of the brain inside the skull, a
concussion may develop. Dizziness, loss of consciousness, headache, disorientation, confused or
double vision, nausea, vomiting, seizures, memory loss, and an inability to do previously
possible activities are all signs and symptoms of a concussion.

Heat stroke when the body’s cooling system stops working. Symptoms of heat stroke include:
– Confusion, altered mental status, slurred speech.
– Loss of consciousness (coma)
– Hot, dry skin or profuse sweating.
– Seizures.
– Very high body temperature.
– Fatal if treatment delayed.
If we see that someone has the symptoms of heat stroke we should immediately immerse the
person in cold water or apply cold wet pads.
Hypothermia occurs when the body looses heat faster than produce it. Symptoms of hypothermia
include:
•
•
•
Shivering.
Exhaustion or feeling very tired.
Confusion.
•
•
•
•
Fumbling hands.
Memory loss.
Slurred speech.
Drowsiness.
To give care to the person who has hypothermia we should move the person to warmer place,
then wrap them in a blanket.
To protect ourselves from extreme heat we should stay hydrated, eat light food, dress light and
protect the skin and use air conditioning.

Hi everyone!
Heat stroke occurs when the body’s cooling system becomes completely overwhelmed
and stops working. Heat stroke is life-threatening. A person with heat stroke may have
moist, pale or flushed skin. They may also experience an absence of sweating or some
degree of sweating, unresponsiveness, confusion, seizure, headache, nausea, dizziness,
weakness and exhaustion. After completing your check and call steps, give care for the
person with heat stroke according to your level of training. Immediately immerse the
person up to their neck in called water to cool them off, if you can safely do so.If you can
not immerse the person in cold water, apply cold, wet cloths or towels to the skin, then
apply ice packs and fan the person. You can also have them take a cold shower. While
caring for the person, watch for changes in their condition. I will stay in bed and rest,
keep hydrated, will drinking water, iced tea, or very diluted juice to replenish fluids lost
through sweating. If I have not the chills, I will stay cool, will remove extra layers of
clothing and blankets.

A poison is any substance that causes injury, illness or death if it enters the body.
Poisons can be swallowed, inhaled, absorbed through the skin or eyes, or injected.
Almost anything can be a poison if it is not meant to be taken into the body. Even some
substances that are meant to be taken into the body, such as medications, can be
poisonous if they are taken by the wrong person, or if the person takes too much. Signs
and symptoms of poisoning vary depending on the type and amount of poison taken into
the body. The person may experience:
•
•
•
•
•
•
abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.
difficulty breathing or slow and shallow breathing.
changes in level of consciousness,
seizures, headache, dizziness, weakness,
irregular pupil size.
unusual skin color or sweating.
If the person is showing signs and symptoms of a life-threatening condition (for example,
loss of consciousness, difficulty breathing) or if multiple people are affected, call 9-1-1.
If the person is responsive and alert, call the national Poison Help hotline at 1-800-2221222, and give care as advised.
