Smart Goal Planning sheet
(S)
SPECIFIC: The first smart goal in my communications career is improving office
communication in my workplace. This objective is specific and attainable, as it entails only one new task;
improving communication at the office.
(M)
MEASURABLE: This goal becomes quantifiable following a meet up with the management
team, at which point you can assess whether disclosing that information promotes the business. It may be
pertinent if your office is experiencing ongoing difficulties, and it may be timely if you have an upcoming
one-on-one meeting with your manager.
(A)
ATTAINABLE: Individuals must first establish a strong presence in the workplace. The more
trust an employee has in you, the more likely they are to speak up and communicate when a problem
arises. Establishing rapport with your employee is an excellent way to start.
(R)
RELEVANT: It should go without saying that effective communication in the workplace is a
critical component of any successful firm. Communication that is open and transparent ensures that
everyone is on the same page regarding objectives, direction, and expectations. Improving
communication between management and the workforce is a critical step your company can take toward
establishing a more cohesive and collaborative work environment. Dismantle those barriers, remove
impediments, and reintroduce open and free communication.
(T)
TIME-BOUND: This goal runs across a duration of one year that encompasses educating the
team on effective communication at the workplace. During the duration, I will document issues as they
arise and present them to a management during one-on-one meetings.
