Self-reflection is an integral part of self-analysis tool. There are multiple models available for conducting self-analysis (Joseph et.al, 2015). In order to be successful in a globally diversified organization, there are various skills and capabilities that I need to develop. For understanding regarding my own intelligence levels I undertook Howard Gardner Model and Daniel Goleman’s Model. For the former model I had a set of questionnaire, which I filled myself to arrive at the scores and asked my friends Maria and Paris to fill in for me (Gardner, 2008). Daniel Goleman’s Emotional Intelligence quotient was filled by me and my friends in similar manner.  The scope of the following analysis undertakes self-reflection and through Johari Window model for in-depth analysis.

Analysing my skills and intelligence levels I undertook Howard Gardner MI test and Daniel Goleman’s EI test. In order to understand scores related to various parameters collected from these tests, I applied the Johari Window model. In the model there are four aspects as analysed below (Smith, Carahher, DeLisle, 2017);

Arena: This aspect of the model reflects the characteristics that is known to self and known to others. My Bodily Kinesics scores, Interpersonal and Intrapersonal skills characteristics is known to me as well as my friends (Almeida et.al., 2010). Feedback from Maria, Raul and Paris collected through questionnaire attached in Appendix, analysis of which is shown in graphical representation following. I am able to make use of my body language while communicating and this aspect is known to me as well as others. Interpersonal and intrapersonal skills of mine were highlighted through my capabilities in making class presentations, email our course instructor and managing time. I have exhibited high levels of motivation and inner feelings while applying in jobs, making class notes and preparing for examinations.

Blind Spot: In this section of the Johari window aspects that are known to others but not known to me are understood (Halpern, 2009). Being logical and spatial visual is an area that I discovered was not known to me but my friends. I have always explained various models easily to my friends in free space. But I was not aware that my friends feel I have a good understanding regarding physical space, imagery and models.

açade: In this area aspects that are not known to others by are known to me are analysed. Areas that are known to me but not known to others are Linguistic and Musical. I am able to express my words clearly with good usage of language skills. I enjoy sensitive and soft rhythmic music (Sariolghalam, Noruzi, Rahimi, 2010). I love hearing to George Michael’s songs and Michael Bolton’s saxophone. But my friends are not aware regarding these characteristic of mine as this is highly personal.

Self-Reflection and Analysis

Unknown: In this area aspects that are unknown to me as well as others are analysed. My relationship management skills and social awareness skills from Daniel Goleman’s emotional intelligence model were not understood (Howell, 2014). I really do not know in what manner I can manage relationships with my team members though I have good interpersonal skills. But little I know regarding my leadership characteristics and team management framework. I and my friends are also unaware regarding my social awareness skills, meaning ways in which I will be able to emphasize or my service orientation.

It is integral to understand from analysis made through two tools, which areas are my strengths and my weaknesses (Morgan, 2009). Analyzing my cognitive intelligence and emotional intelligence levels I am able to understand my strengths, which in future can be turned into opportunities. I can also analyse my weaknesses, which can act as threats for me in my future profession. Hence, I need to act on these areas of weaknesses and improvise them for my future.

Strengths: My key strengths areas are communicating verbally and using body languages. I am able to speak well, make presentations, and write emails or letters with great dexterity. I have good interpersonal and intrapersonal skills meaning I am able to interact with team mates and colleagues easily. I have good understanding related to physical space and 3D diagrams, which have helped to in making several assignments as well reports.

Weaknesses: Every person has some or the other weaknesses but it is integral to diagnose them and overcome them effectively. I have relatively less self-control and adaptability; I am extremely short tempered and lose my patience easily. I cannot keep myself composed in a tensed situation and easily get aggravated related to the same. I am not open to experience and cannot make friends easily. I am an extremely introvert person. However, I am conscientious in nature. I do not hurt anybody’s feeling and am extremely reliable as well as hard working.

I need to work on my patience levels and improve my temperament. I need to undertake steps to improve to interact more easily with others and undertake self-control. I need to keep my senses open to experience, which will allow me to easily extend myself in the professional world.

Management is a multi-diversified domain and post completion of MBA, everyone wishes to get their dream jobs. I aspire to become a manager at a multinational corporation such as Vodafone, Metro, and Amazon and so on. I aspire to work for a truly globally diversified organization, where I will get the opportunity to interact with a number of talents. However, in order to do so I need to develop my competencies in a number of domains, especially teamwork and leadership capabilities. Other competencies that I want to develop are in respect to time management and Big Data analysis.

Johari Window Model

In order to develop leadership skills, I will try and maintain a personal journal, where I will update skills acquired on monthly basis. I will undertake transformational leadership model, where I will identify specific skill sets and then try to develop them accordingly through self-help books, case studies and journals. I will also learn from internet sources regarding the same. In a global organization, leadership skills requires an individual to be accommodative of ideas others. Meaning one has to be having polycentric approach, which allows one to be accommodative regarding other’s cultures. I have to learn skills that allow me to become adaptive and understandable regarding other’s cultures.

In order to adapt teamwork capabilities, I will learn team participation skills. I will try to be more open with my classmates and team members such that in future I do not face any problem in becoming a global citizen. I will also learn from my team mates regarding my negative attribute such that I can easily change them.

Time management is a critical component for becoming global citizen in Multinational Corporation. I will take up regular self-assessments to see that I am able to effectively manage time and complete tasks. This competency has to be developed such that I am capable of meeting client deadlines and reach top of corporate ladder.

All multinationals are dependent on Big Data analysis for decision making at every step. Nowadays information systems of multinationals collect large volumes of data and analyses them for taking decisions relative to their strategies. Some aspects of Big Data competency has been introduced to us, however detailed understanding regarding this topic is not present. I need to develop competency related to Big Data I in order to become a truly global citizen.

Conclusion

Reflection regarding myself has provided critical information regarding my cognitive intelligence. These have helped me to arrive at domains related to areas that I needed improvement. I have been able to understand weaknesses that need to be attended and also competencies which have to be developed for becoming a global citizen.
