APA formatting can be confusing, especially concerning the references and quotations. The Purdue Owl online writing lab provides a lot of information and guidance on APA formatting. The week six lesson offered additional details on formatting the research paper and grammar. For example, I did not know when listing three or more items to apply the “extra” comma. The week’s lesson helped me to understand better the formatting and methods of using APA references and the overall paper structure. The week’s lesson provided many points of APA formatting to assist in writing a research paper. I found the explanation of using a page number of journals and books helpful when citing a source. I also found the rules on quotations interesting and help of when to quote an author and when not to quote an author. Lastly, I think a person should have someone else proofread their research paper to more efficiently locate errors. When a person proofreads their own writing, the mind has a autocorrect, which makes finding your writing errors challenging to identify at times.
