The Role of Project Management in Construction Activities

The project management plays a significant role in the development of the construction activities and alignment of the operations for developing the operations (Mir & Pinnington, 2014). The integration of the system development would be allowed for forming the alignment of the project operations. The construction, system development, event management, software alignment, website development, and other projects would allow the integration for the management of the improved operations and functions.  

The following assignment consists of analysis of a specific plan for the development of the luxury home for elderly people. The Mendelow matrix would be formed for ensuring that the project is formed for analysis of the project stakeholders. The conflict management planning and potential issue management are formed in the report.

The project of Luxury Care Home for Elderly People was made with the help of the agile methodology as it would allow the planner for developing effective and efficient deployment of the activities. The deployment of the activities would allow the modification of the operations for carrying out the specific modification of the building development plan for the organization to carry out the planned activities. The construction and project development would help the business organizations to carry out the project successfully. The project plan consists of four phases namely project initialization, project planning, project execution, and project closure (Boud, Cohen & Sampson, 2014). The implication of the agile development for planning would allow the development of the project plan as follows,

Project Initiation: The project initiation consists of analysis of the project scope, scope development, charter documentation, change requirement analysis, project initiation document, document submission, and review and signing of the documents activities.

Project Planning: The project planning consists of schedule planning, scope management planning, change management planning, risk management planning, and plans approval activities.

Project Execution: The project execution consists of resource accumulation, external contractor employment, procurement and agreement, site development, site clearing and cleaning, construction operations (including laying of building pillars, building infrastructure is formed, and floors are built), equipments and facilities are installed, and fire safety and medical kits are installed activities.

Project Closure: The project closure consists of development of final documents, submission of final documents, review and signing of the documents and project is closed activities.

Agile Development Methodology

Development of the Luxury Home Centre: The primary aim of the project is to develop a luxury home centre for the elderly people. The people are suffering from health issues and it tolls a certain amount of resources for the development of the specific care for the people. The luxury home development would allow the integration of the construction and project management principles for the development of the improved project completion.

Project Plan Development: The complete plan development would require the use of the project management concepts and activities for aligning the specific project management operations. The integration of the concise project development would help the project in carrying out the deployed system development. The project plan development would cause the modification of the activities for successful completion of the project.  

Usage of resources: The development of the effective project resources would allow the formation of the improved project operations for carving the development of the project. The resources are required for forming the alignment of the project operations and successful completion of the project. The resource management is done in order to successfully form the development of the effective project integration management. The other roles of the project are developed for forming the deployment of the schedule for the project for developing improved system development.

The project of Luxury Care Home for Elderly People is formed for the deployment of the functions and operations. The Mendelow Matrix is develoepd by considering the power and interest of the various stakeholders of the project. The various stakeholders of the project were Client, Project Manager, Contractor, Elderly People, Analyst, Documenter, Planner, Risk Analyst, Workers, and Engineer. The various stakeholders of the project are classified into governance, managerial, and operational. Contracts and Agreements are the most prominent method used as once the person is bounded by the contract, he/she must finish the project work in the estimated time and budget. However, the contracts and agreements act more like a hook that does not perform the employees to work better and more enthusiastically. Rewards and Recognition serve the purpose of motivation to the employees for performing more efficiently. However, the employees are not bounded to deliver better outcomes and they are free to opt for delivering better or not.

Conflict Management can be defined as the process of improving the opportunity for improving the situations and strengthening the relationship among the people (Einarsen et al., 2016). The issues of the operational level identified in the previous Mendelow’s matrix need to be managed and form the deployment of the improved services. The conflict management can be implied in six steps as explained below,

Clarification of the Disagreement: The first step of the conflict management is the clarification of the disagreement among the parties. The project team members might have conflict of some other reasons which they would not express easily. The project manager or leader would have to ensure that the real reason for the conflict or the factor of disagreement must be known prior before solving the conflict.

Establishment of Common Goal: The common goal is a negotiable outcome of the disagreement between the conflicting parties (Stipanowich & Lamare, 2014). The conflict can be shortened with the help of developing a common muse in between the project team members for developing the proper solution to their disagreement. The common goal would allow the users for the development of the profound agreement among the project team members.

Discussion for Achievement of Common Goal: The discussion of the achievement of the common goal would ensure that there are no issues in the development of the project. The conflict management would evaluate the development of the specific management of the operations and integration of the system integration (Hylli et al., 2015). The common goal would be achieved for developing the profound system development and conflict resolution. The members would have to somehow develop improved operations for the management of the specific alignment.

It can be concluded from the assignment that project management had been playing a significant for the successful project development. The development of the improved functions for the project had allowed the deployment of the effective and profound system development. The plan was formed for ensuring that the proper documentation would be made for the project. The schedule formed had been aligned with the specific formation of the luxury house and it had integrated the development of the improved professional development. The report had also provided the analysis of the aims and objectives of the project, stakeholder involvement in the project, and analysis of the project.
