The pandemic has presented some unprecedented issues in the hospitality industry. This pandemic is so enormous that even the most prominent or rather successful businesses could not escape its effects. The hospitality industry is one of the hardest hit by this pandemic. When the pandemic hit the world, most countries shut down their boarders and issued travel restrictions to their citizens. Tis means people cannot travel in or out of such countries. The main players in the hospitality industry being travel and tour industries and hoteliers therefore had a number of issues to handle. First, the issue of travel restriction and gathering meant that the industry had to adapt to the new regulations that the governments put in place. This rules are not favorable to the industry since the industry depends largely in tourists who travel from other countries to explore other countries culture, wildlife or just the experience of a different weather (Alonso, 2020). This rules and regulation has led to the industry making losses since there is a tremendous decrease in customers. In addition, some of the staff in these industry are foreigners and with the travel restrictions and quarantine, it means they are not going back to their jobs. The companies with such staff are therefore greatly impacted on, as they will have to replace their staff with new ones. Comment by dell: AMBINGUITY TO REACH YOUR WORD COUNT
The second issue that arises in the hospitality industry due to this pandemic is sustainability. So many businesses have shut down due to the effects and the restrictions that came about with this pandemic (Karim, 2020). Some businesses could not keep up with the expenditure that the pandemic brought about, therefore they had to send home their staff and close down business with the hope of reopening when the pandemic has been dealt with. Job security is another issue that has great impact on the industry. Many companies are laying off staff to facilitate their operations. This means even the most productive staff members have to be Comment by dell: IS THIS A PARAGRAPH?
sent home just for the business to be up and running. This leads to overtasking by the remaining staff which may not prove productive as humans have limits.
In conclusion, the pandemic has greatly affected the hospitality industry. It has led to losses of jobs and closure of businesses which has led to stagnation in economic growth. Therefore there is need for governments to offer support to the industry for it to stabilize amidst this pandemic. Comment by dell: WHAT IS THIS? Irish nationalism is a scattered concept with diverse understanding among people. According to historians, Irish nationalism was not the same as other states but a politically motivated process yielding three forms of nationalism, Unionist, constitutional, and republic. Unionist nationalism viewed Ireland as a major role player in the British empire and hence little issues with taking pride in both the British and Irish identity. Constitutional nationalism strongly believed in the home rule but equally wanted to maintain the ties with the British empire. Lastly, republican nationalism created hope and self-confidence in Ireland with ideals meant to awaken the Irish cultural richness and disdain for foreign influence. The three forms of nationalism have common points of convergence and well as divergence. The nationalism convergence on narratives, ethics and Motivating Power of Cultural Identity. The three nationalisms include the intellectual and cultural elites of the society helping in generating passive support for the ideals. The movements also had shared narratives and objectives. Constitutional and republican nationalism shared a narrative of the Irish nation based on the view of the Irish and its inhabitants being different from English patriotism. The Motivating Power of Cultural Identity was harbored in all forms of nationalism. the movements all agreed that the Irish were uniquely different from Britain throughout as they emphasize the importance of cultural elements of nationhood.
The points of divergence include models, methods of nationalism, Conceptualization of International Context, and response to the European crisis. constitutionalists as opposed to republicans were more flexible in the interpretation of culture and its vitality in cementing the political, moral, economic, and intellectual structures within an independent Ireland. Concerning the methods, constitutionalists concentrated on political activity upheaving the competence and trustworthiness of the Irish political space. Republicans laid their emphasis on the increase of individuality of Irish culture and public consciousness of nationhood. The republicans believed the nation was supposed to be forging on its own unique identity instead of international concentration which is contrary to constitutionalist’s take on the same who believed that the path to nationhood has wide interest including collaboration with the international parties. Lastly in the response to the European crisis, the unionist saw the only way to maintain the relationship with Britain in the first world war was to postpone the home rule which was different from the nationalists’ view of strengthening the law at the time.
The Irish independence originated from unsteady paths including its vulnerability in Europe in the past war era and subsequent increasing polarization within the country’s nationalism movements. After the first world war, Germany, a country which Ireland had long relied on for support failed them and they were rejected at a post-war peace conference. The challenges led to increased polarization between the three nationalist movements. As a result, new nationalism arose like the Irish Centre party which was unsuccessful. Later in January 1919, the republicans enhanced confidence and determination leading to the formation of the first Dali Eireann a move towards setting the first government to replace the British administration. escalations of tension led to the civil war after the Angle-Irish Treaty of 1921. A repeat of the civil war between 1922 to 1923 motivated the division of Ireland due to increased isolationism in the southern part of the empire.
In a nutshell, Ireland faced an absence of political unity at the start of world war I emanating from the different nationalists’ ideologies. The different forms of nationalities succumbed to power and right fight making the issue an even deeper concern. The ideal of nationalism outgrew the need for independence justifying the goals of the predominant political movements at the time.
