Title: Social and Structural Determinants of Health Inequities in Maternal Health
Abstract: Social determinants are environments in which individuals are born, live, grow and
work and are primary drivers of disease susceptibility and risk within public health systems and
clinical care. With time the term social determinant of health has lost meaning because of lack of
context and misuse. This has contributed to increased risks of maternal mortality among black
women. Hence there is a need to understand social determinants of health and the forces causing
their distribution. The study reviews social determinants of maternal health, including the root
cause of inequality and structural determinants of health, hypothesizing that the root cause and
additional structural determinants identify racism as the primary cause of inequality in maternal
health in the United States.

Title: Universal Health Coverage
Abstract: Several irreconcilable factors contributed to the World Health Organization failing to
reach the health goals of 2000. Governments needed to develop an effective approach to address
this issue of increased health care cost. A national health insurance scheme that needed to be
adequately refined was developed. Workable strategies and health policies promoting effective
methods and reduced costs were required to be part of this universal health Coverage scheme.
The study explores government responsibilities and roles to support and educate the community
to achieve the WHO goal of affordable health for all.

Title: Environmental Pollutant Exposures and Public Health
Abstract: Extreme climate events and weather are causing deaths, seasonal injuries, and
illnesses. This is due to climate change which has caused events like floods, the seasonal
transmission of diseases such as vector-borne infection, and heatwaves contributing to drought. It
is projected that there will be increased climate-sensitive results if the issue of climate change
remains unaddressed or if no action is taken. These climate risks can be addressed through
mitigation and adaptation, but there is also a need to change health system capacity and
population health status.
