Physical Activity Resource Guide
After having read the websites cited in the introduction and read your peers posts develop an out of the box physical activity resource guide (brochure). Imagine that your peers all live in the same general locale. Research fun and unusual but accessible activities that will meet the physical activity goals of you and your peers. Your resource guide should have a minimum of 6 different activities. Each entry should contain a description of the activity, costs, when and where, contact person, website or copy of the listing location. Feel free to include photos or graphics. You may submit your resource guide in PowerPoint, pdf, Word or Microsoft publisher format.
Remember to think out of the box-search for activities on Living Social, Groupon, Department of Recreation and Parks brochures, club and meetings sections of the newspaper, bulletin boards in your favorite neighborhood coffee shop or grocery store, etc.
Assignment Expectations:
Length: Minimum of 6 brochure pages (each activity should be given a page/slide), not including title page/slide and reference page/slide.
Structure: 6 brochure pages or slides; Include a title page/slide and reference page/slide in APA format.
References: Use appropriate APA style in-text citations and references for all resources utilized to answer the questions. A minimum of two (2) scholarly sources are required for this assignment.
The only one person I know who meets the national
daily recommendation goals for physical activities
without trying is my nine year old son. I can count the
number of times I have seen my boy walk in his nine
years of life. He is the most buoyant nine year old ever.
He hits the ground running at every given chance. He
splits up in our living room and zooms away in a
fashion reserved for the movies. He has had defined
biceps and triceps since the age five. I wonder if this
will change for him?
Personally, I am trapped in the 80% statistics of
Americans that are not meeting the national
recommendation goals for physical activities. I have
been aware of this, time and time again I resolve to do
something about it, but life and career always compete
with my resolve.
The Physical Activities Guidelines (PAG) is the first-
ever publication of national guidelines for physical
activity. The Physical Activity objectives for Healthy
People 2020 reflect the strong state of the science
supporting the health benefits of regular physical
activity among youth and adults, as identified in the
PAG. Regular physical activity includes participation in
moderate- and vigorous-intensity physical activities and
muscle-strengthening activities.

Physical activity is key to improving the health of the
Nation. Based on the latest science, the Physical
Activity Guidelines for Americans is an essential
resource for health professionals and policy makers
that provides recommendations on how everyone can
improve their health through regular physical activity.
Learn ways to help people understand the benefits of
physical activity and how to make it a part of their
regular routine.
More than 80% of adults do not meet the guidelines for
both aerobic and muscle-strengthening activities.
Similarly, more than 80% of adolescents do not do
enough aerobic physical activity to meet the guidelines
for youth. Working together to meet Healthy People
2020 targets via a multidisciplinary approach is critical
to increasing the levels of physical activity and
improving health in the United States.
Recommendations for meeting Healthy People 2020
goals include deciding to make a change for the sake
of good health. I decided to go back to the gym on
February 15. My gym membership costs $75 per
month, but I prefer it because it is family oriented and
there are ample classes for me to join. The classes are
a great source of support and encouragement.
However, not everyone must spend a lot of money on
gym membership. Investing a decent amount of money
to buy a few excessive instrument can be very helpful.

equipment that do not break the bank. Alternatively, no
dime needs spent because one can simply set the
timer to 10 minutes and hit the wind running. Make a
turn to return home when the timer goes off. See? You
have tricked your body to do a 20 minute run, but your
brain was thinking 10 minutes is not bad at all.
The best time to exercise is first thing in the morning.
That way, it is done. Excuses of being tired after day’s
work will not be able to prevent you form working out.
Also, I have discovered two other morning routines that
can be done absolutely during workout sessions. For
people who have faith or love music or love the news,
and for people who whiten their teeth. You can be on
the treadmill, have your earphones on listening to what
you choose and set your whitening tray and put them
on. You have knocked off 3 takes for the time of one.
More than anything, the desire to want to commit to
building a healthy body and mind has to be cultivated.
The decision has to be made, otherwise, all money only
spent does not change anything.
