Hi I need help with a geology research about what is below, the book is: Introduction to earth minerals
GEOL 286 Research Paper: Mineral Resources and Uses
Deadline: April 3rd, 2020
Purpose: Self-directed, minimal-supervision, research paper using the textbook, lecture notes,
internet, and other appropriate sources.
Learning Goal: All resources for civilization have to be either mined (e.g., metals, coal, oil,
salt) or grown (e.g., food, people, ideas). As technology advances and becomes more
sophisticated, civilization’s dependence on mineral resources increases, but the importance of
specific resources waxes (e.g., Li, Co) and wanes (e.g., coal). Students will investigate a
specific metal commodity to understand its source(s), geological origins, geographical
distribution, industrial uses, economic importance and value, future outlook. Students will
present this research in a factsheet-pamphlet format for easy sharing.
