Yes, I absolutely believe that the way a person follows a leader will affect the way that he or she leads. I have sat under good leaders and awful leaders, the important thing is to learn and understand the effective ways in which you should lead others. For an example, early in my career I was under a great leader that had a few subordinates that were not great with managing time. She not only provided a time management class, but she also had them meet with her a few times a month just to catch up and see how things were progressing. She never micromanaged them but wanted them to overcome obstacles and succeed. Each of these employees moved up in the company and had teams of their own. Great leaders help others see the potential inside, and great followers will step into that role.
