Provide a substantive response to at least two of your peers. Discuss the reasons why effective communication is so important in organizations. What tools could managers use to foster better communication in both cases?
1. Peer 1*-When in a professional setting, the individual should conduct themselves accordingly. Not only are you in front of an individual that knows the organization policy, but you want to ensure your team trusts you with the information you share. This policy is put in place to ensure the organization operates accordingly and the individual is cover. I believe the individual should have not challenged the vice president in front of the other department managers during the meeting. I would take notes and ensure I meet with the vice president privately to speak about the information that was share incorrectly. Understand that he has the authority of how the organization should operate, but when a policy is a place all individual including supervisors and managers have to follow. This not only protects the individual but the organization as well. I would also provide the policy I had in my office during the private meeting with the VP. This private meeting will ensure no one is getting embarrassed and everyone has open-minded.
I believe the individual had the right intention in mind when he challenged the VP, but did it improperly. I believe the case went wrong was when he interrupted the VP. He wanted to inform the VP that the information he was sharing was incorrect, but did it all wrong. This cause the VP to become annoyed by the interrupt and made the meeting unconformable. This also causes the VP to become unprofessional as a senior leader and not allow his managers inactive with the meeting. I believe this could have been avoided if it was an open floor meeting. Allow the individual to be heard about what was going on and to ask questions. If this was presented at the beginning of the meeting this would allow all individuals to be involved in the meeting and also allow to share correct information. Willis
2. Effective comunication is an important tool in any organization, and managers must be effecive in this area in order to lead effeciently. Manages should be able to listen to their staff and be involved in ay feedback given, and be ready to act upon it. Other skills involve making sure everyone knows what the goal of the organization is or what they are working toward. Everyone has different opinions, backgrounds, so a manager must communicate with clarity and make sure there is a clear understanding throughout the group , and remind them frequently if necessary. Being able to undertand thoughts and ideas of others is necessary for delivery of quality care for patients. (Liebler & McConnell, 2017).
Communication in healthcare organizations must have privacy up front. Communications between a patient and the healthcare provider must ne kept private and protected. When communication is not kept confidential there can be legal implications, such as a healthcare organization losing their accredidation. Ethically healthcare organizations must vow to do no harm, maintain confidentiality, and anonymity. Finances must be handled correctly in accounting and the billing department to ensure the health care organization continues to thrive. All departments must communicate with one another effectively in order to be productive.
Some barriers to communication between managers and staff could be skills and resources or the lack there of. Everyone will not have the same skill set and learning each individual and how to work with them would be a barrier, and how they choose to commmunicate. Body language, not commmunicating effectively, and not listening. Masters
