90/690 Paper Requirements/Rubric
Purpose:
The purpose of this paper is to provide students the opportunity to comprehensively analyze a specific therapeutic approach to individual, family or group counseling.
To accomplish this, the student will choose a topic with approval from course instructors and write a paper that includes:
1. Include statement of the
a. therapeutic approach being discussed
b. historical perspective
c. you may add a case study if desired
2.
Review the theoretical underpinnings of
the therapy, and if it is appropriate for
individual, group, and/or family therapy.
3. Thorough discussion of treatment approach and guidelines, including evidence-based
issues (are there published guidelines for its use anywhere – APA, NIMH, etc.) and if
there are specific diagnoses for which the therapy is appropriate.
4. Discuss basic training and certifications if applicable, as well as appropriateness for
APRN’s.
5.
Important cultural and/or genetic issues associated with this approach.
6. Discuss recent research applicable to the topic (note this should be within the past 7 years).

Examine different views/perspectives/controversies related to topic.
8. Identify issues for APRN practice, including reimbursement and coding

Identify areas, within topic where
future development and research are needed.

. Summarize findings – no new information is introduced in a summary and may include
specific conclusions. Should include a summary of the technique and brief
summarization of other areas.
11. Form:
1. Proofread the paper for APA form, spelling, grammar, word
appropriateness, paragraph form, reference citations, and reference list. Use the turnitin site to help with assessment of similarity content prior to the due date.
2. Present topic in a well-organized and comprehensive manner
3. A minimum of five (5) references from the past seven years, which may include a combination of texts, journals, online texts, and websites, which are peer reviewed and from professional nursing or other healthcare disciplines must be utilized.
4. This paper is
