Course Project Outline
This week you will create a full-length outline of your Course Project (i.e. a map of what you plan to discuss in your paper). This means you need to choose between your two possible topics, do further research, and come up with a working thesis statement. Then create an outline of what you will cover in your paper and how you will support your thesis statement. Your outline should also include a list the sources you would like to use in your paper (remember you must have at least three sources in your paper). If you aren’t sure how to create an outline, see the instructions and video below.

The effects of the listening process and obstacles on Entrepreneurship
In order to build solid and strong relationships with the individuals you surround
yourself with as an entrepreneur, you must have good interpersonal communication skills.
The process and practice of exchanging ideas and information can be defined as interpersonal
communication. Interpersonal skills, which are divided into four categories: verbal, listening,
written, and nonverbal communication, can be a stimulus for action. In fact, as you learn how
to effectively communicate and connect with employees and customers, being a good listener
could pave the path to a prosperous future.
Listening necessitates a person’s active participation. Receiving, attention to, building
meaning from, and responding to spoken and/or nonverbal stimuli is the psychological
process. (Typigi, 2013). Today, the skill of listening is undervalued because we are
surrounded by noise that obscures the meaning of what we are attempting to communicate.
As the channel of our communication grew through the usage of social media, these
impediments include cultural and linguistic disparities. Listening is fascinating because it
necessitates an understanding of another person, a respectful and accepting attitude, and a
desire to expand one’s mind to try to view things from a different perspective. It requires us to
put our own thoughts and agendas aside, put ourselves in another person’s shoes, and try to
see the world through their eyes.
The five phases of listening are: hearing, which is your perception of sound waves;
hearing, which is your perception of sound waves; hearing, which is your perception of sound
waves; and hearing, which is your perception of sound waves. During this stage, it is critical
to be attentive; understanding, in which we analyze the information received by providing
meaning and context; remembering, which is the process of storing information in the mind’s
bank; evaluating, in which the listener weighs evidence, distinguishes facts from opinion, and
determines prejudices in the message; and responding, in which the receiver provides verbal
3
or nonverbal feedback. It indicates that the communication has been received, indicating that
the process is complete.
As an entrepreneur, actively listening is critical since you are constantly seeking new
information to support and strengthen your business ideas. You may assess what people want
and need in connection to your business through listening, and as a result, you can alter your
business model to meet these requirements and expectations (R.R. Collot, 2015). Listening is
a crucial component of efficient working relationships between employees and supervisors,
as well as a factor that will help your business remain profitable in the long run by allowing
you to effectively communicate with customers. Listening allows you to keep an open mind
and make more informed judgments that will benefit your company. It is necessary for
establishing trust and reducing conflict because it allows members of a team to cooperate
with one another, and better communication will allow the team to maximize the strengths of
each individual (R.R. Collot, 2015). Everyone will feel more understood and heard if the
practice of good listening is implemented, and people will be more engaged and motivated to
complete a task.
Effective listening comes with its own set of challenges, and there are a lot of them
both inside and beyond the workplace. It entails the following: Physiological hurdles, since
some people may have hearing issues that make it difficult for them to listen correctly. It’s
possible that some people have difficulty processing information. Physical barriers could
relate to external distractions such as a noisy air conditioner or an overheated room. It’s also
possible that it’s a case of information overload. Even if what is being said is significant,
preoccupation with personal or work-related difficulties, or even egocentrism, which is the
belief that certain people are more knowledgeable than others and can lead to closemindedness, can make it difficult to focus one’s attention totally. The belief that
communication is solely the duty of the sender or speaker, with listeners having no part to
4
play, could be a major roadblock to effective listening. People are not born with the ability to
listen; rather, it is a skill that must be developed, which implies that a lack of this ability
could be a significant impediment.
Learning to listen well is beneficial to personal growth and development because it
allows you to communicate information in a clear and succinct manner, which is a crucial
component of good human connection. It will aid in the prevention of misunderstandings and
the recovery of what would otherwise be a misinterpretation. This ability will enable you to
inform people that they are significant, unique, and valuable, which will aid in the
development of solid connections. Listening to and comprehending the perspectives of
others, as well as different ideas and examining contrasting viewpoints, is how a person
learns and evolves. Learning active and effective listening is a skill that will not only
contribute to your personal growth toolkit, but will also prepare you to continue exploring
new ideals. 2013 (Typigi)
By mastering this skill, you will be able to chart your own path to success, both
professionally and personally. The significance of everyone feeling understood and respected
speaks volumes, and by meeting their needs, numerous benefits can be realized
