Biodiversity Hotspots(https://www.cepf.net/our-work/biodiversity-hotspots)
Create a Google Slide Presentation. This is an informational presentation that combines
factual info, photos, graphs, and tables. To get all the information you need, you will only use
ONE website from the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (I gave the link to you), except for
the endemic plant and endemic animal (you may use google to find information for those).
Choose one hotspot from their current work (there are 10 biodiversity hotspots you can choose
from).
Minimum information/graphics to include:
●
●
●
●
●
Maps – include global and regional maps showing the location and boundary of the
hotspot
Photos that show plant life/animal life/threats etc. (no clip art or photoshop images)
Species (Click on “About This Hotspot”): Briefly discuss each group of species found in
the area. Include: Plants, Fish, Amphibian, Reptiles, Birds and Mammals (some hotspots
discuss invertebrates – include these if it is discussed). Do NOT include any other groups
of species.
Threats (Click on “About This Hotspot”): Briefly describe each threat to the hotspot.
Projects being conducted in the hotspot: Create a table that lists 4 projects – identify the
name of the project, the amount of money the project has been given and a VERY brief
description (in your own words) that describes the goal or focus of the project.
Also: Use the Ecosystem Profile PDF (each hotspot has this document linked to the hotspot
front page – the PDF table of contents will guide you to the information below)
Critically Endangered/Endangered/Vulnerable Species: Create a table that shows how
many Plants, Fish, Amphibian, Reptiles, Birds and Mammals are Critically Endangered (CR),
Endangered (EN), and Vulnerable (VU). The table should be properly labeled and have totals on
the right side for each row and at the bottom for each column. This information is given in a
table and is found under the Conservation Outcomes/Species Outcomes section. Basically, you
are recreating a similar table to include in your infographic.

Endemism: Under the “Species” section, describe one endemic plant and one endemic animal.
You should give a physical description, what it eats, what are specific threats to it, and
adaptations that help it survive in its environment.
