Mexican Drug War has been occurring for almost a century now. The drug trade is an international problem, but nowhere have its deleterious effects on citizen security and state governance been more brutally apparent than in Mexico. The 1960s and 1970 were characterized by an explosion of drug use in United States. Therefore, US President Richard Nixon declared a ” War On Drugs”, and it leads to the reinforcement from the United States ever since. However, the problem continued to exist. Countless Mexican citizens faced deaths every year, and a lot of them were associated with the drug cartels. The everlasting rise of the drug cartels could be caused by the faulty governing system. El Chapo’s case is quintessential example. Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman Loera, known as the biggest drug lord in Mexico ever, has escaped the maximum-security prison for two times. This kind of loophole is only the more famous among many of them. The underlying, hideous government system of the Mexico are more than accountable for this fiasco.
3. Bibliography

The secondary sources must be by different authors and published after 1990 (unless approved by the professor). Articles must be at least 20-30 pages and published in academic journals in history.
