MyClothes: A Case of Data Management
Background Information
MyClothes is a highly successful department retailer offering completely designed casual clothing and accessories. It operates in various cities in the United Arab Emiratis in 11 different stores. Over time, MyClothes consumers changed their tastes and started looking for more branded clothing available online as these clothes are available at a much cheaper price, with a buyback option being delivered at home. MyClothes ‘ management was worried about the increased online sales and in 2018 created an IT department.
My Clothes named Abdullah as the department manager with the responsibility of introducing IT successfully in all 11 stores. MyClothes ‘ first goal was to launch the www.myclothes.com website and start selling online.
The Specific Problem/Situation
Abdullah’s main role is to train and equip managers and employees with the latest market activities (in terms of IT and how retailers use them to attract customers). Abdullah also persuaded management to release their mobile app, helping them to draw more customers, though management was skeptical about these new technologies.
Abdullah faces three main challenges he has to come over it. These challenges are:
· Train the management and colleagues for the basic training in Data Management and its importance and the advantages of the internet for the business.
· Train colleagues about the Data transfer using Wireless (WiFi) and Wired Media (for Local Area Network).
· Explain to colleagues about different types of signals, what’s the importance of multiplexing and how it’s important to launch the new website of MyClothes?

1. Management and colleagues training about Data Management and its importance and the role of the internet in the business.
Abdullah has to highlight two main aspects of managers’ and colleagues’ training. The first aspect will be regarding data management and why it is important. The second aspect will be the benefits of internet use in the business.
? Aspect one: Data Management and its is important. Data management covers all aspects of information preparation, handling, evaluation, recording and storage at all levels of the organization (Sjsu.edu, 2019). Data management is important for a company to work successfully. In fact, data management is vital to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, completeness, cost-effectiveness, and accessibility of organizational information (Lehr, 2019).
Good data management helps to minimize potential errors and reduce damage from bad data. If your information is properly managed, modified, and improved, it will exponentially increase its efficiency and organizational performance. Better management of information helps improve the quality and access of data (Lehr, 2019).
? Aspect two: internet benefits for business. To change the concept of traditional business and to have a new online store concept. Abdullah has to address the benefits of having internet in their business. The following points illustrate some of most important benefits for MyClothes.
? We can have global access (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) also we can improve customer service by increasing flexibility. Moreover, we can save our costs and deliver products more quickly (Business.qld.gov.au, 2019).
? Increased presence because it would give MyClothes an advantage over the competition with a strong online presence. When we are not available online, for many potential customers, we actually do not exist (Weedmark, 2019).
? Getting a website would make our clients and leads more convenient. From the point of view of a customer, if they don’t have to ask something, it’s easier for them. On our online site, they will find just what they’re searching for. It’s going to make it easy for our customers to buy from us instead of driving a car to our physical location (Dogulin Digital, 2019).
? We can get in touch with our customers and know their problems and suggestions trough using the e-mail to contact us or through the live chat on the website. In this way we will build better relationships with them.
2. Colleagues Training about Data transfer.
Communication media is a transmitter-receiver link through which data can be transmitted. There are two main types of data to be transferred. For network system, communication media is essential. In selecting the media, the transmission characteristics are important because they directly affect the quality of data transfer (Kck, 2019). Figure 1 illustrates the Communication model and its different types.

For Myclothes, it is important to be aware of the advantages and disadvantages of each approach when contemplating the implementation of a wired or wireless data transfer. Therefore, Abdullah has to show them the difference between wired and wireless data transfer. So he will cover two points in this training about the Medias.
? Wired data transfer. A wired network connection is defined as a configuration involving cables that attach to the network and other devices. The data is transferred via Ethernet cables from one computer to another or over the Internet ( Ltd England, 2019). The advantages of using this type are:
? Reliability and stability. After installation of the hubs, switches and Ethernet cables, the end result is an incredibly reliable workhorse system. Also, the signals do not influence by other connection therefore, it considers to be reliable ( Ltd England, 2019).
? In particular, wired networks are much faster than wireless networks. That is due to the use of separate cables in linking devices to the network, and each cable transfer the data at the same speed. Wired network is also smoother as unintended and unwanted traffic is never weighed down ( Ltd England, 2019).
There are several disadvantages related to wire data transfer such as wired networks that can be inflexible in terms of mobility. The implementation of the cables to complete the process will take long time that is due to the set-up of the required components. With the increasing number of devices attached to the network, it is necessary to have a server to manage the access. If a wired network needs a server, the maintenance could be potentially costly ( Ltd England, 2019).
? Wireless data transfer. Wireless networks are systems that rely on microwave and radio frequency signals. Wireless devices use radio signals to communicate with other devices and internet in a network without having any linking cables. ( Ltd England, 2019). The advantages of using this type are shown in the following points:
? Wireless network implementation is simpler and easier since less equipment is needed. That is because no time is required to connect each computer to the network using cables.
? Wireless networks allow the office staff to be more flexible with the ability to use any form of the wireless activated phone to access the network from any venue.
There are several disadvantages related to wireless data transfer such as Wireless networks are less secure than wired networks as they are transmitted by air. Wireless networks lack the ability of wired networks to transmit data. Alternatively, a wireless network depends primarily on your current configuration’s maximum speed capacity. In terms of security and reliability, wireless networks are prone to interference from other networks ( Ltd England, 2019).
The selection of MyClothes for data transfer will be based on the cost. If the cost is not on top of our concerned, we should go for wireless networks to have more mobility and flexibility. If the cost of upgrading the network is a concern and we need maximum security and efficiency, the link of choice may be a wired network.
3. Explanation of different types of signals, the importance of multiplexing in the launch of the new website of MyClothes.
A signal is the transmission of data through the medium (Tech Differences, 2019). There are two types of signals and figure 2 shows the basic differences between them.

Multiplexing is a general term used to describe the process of transmitting one or more analog or digital signals at different times or speeds over a specific transmission line (Anon, 2019). Multiplexing importance is due to the reduction of network costs by reducing the number of communication connections between two points that are required. It also simplifies drive electronics reduces costs and provides the microprocessors with a direct interface. With the aim of sharing an expensive resource (Anon, 2019).
Figure 3 shows the difference between network without multiplexing and networks with Multiplexing. We use three communication channels to carry three signals without multiplexing. A network without multiplexing carries at any time just one signal. A large amount of bandwidth is lost in this technique. On the other hand, the multiplexing communication system. This requires only one channel of communication to carry 3 signals. It bears messages at the same time. The bandwidth is efficiently used in this technique (Shaik, 2019).
There are three different types of multiplexer each type that has its own features and used for certain signal types. The following figure shows these types.

The importance of launching MyClothe’s new Websites.
For MyClothes to go online and have a website this will let them gain several benefits such as
· A survey conducted in 2015 found that 84 percent of customers believe that having a website makes the company more credible than a social media page. The Home page thus defines our advertised value proposition, the About Us page tells users everything about our company and the Contact Us page shows everyone how to contact us (Bussing, 2019).
· MyClothes can use the website to active and passive income generation tool. For example, we can use it as a good source of PPC or Pay-Per-Click ads for passive income. Each time a user clicks on their ad on our website, advertisers must pay us.
· Attract new customers with exposure to the search engine. As we all know, marketing and relationships power physical retail. Online retail, however, still pushes traffic from search engines (Wills, 2019).
· The time it is now 24/7/365 will be one of the most significant advantages for online stores. Therefore, we can always run MyClothes websites. Therefore, by increasing the number of orders, we will increase our sales. It is also helpful to our consumers, though, as they can buy products whenever they want, regardless of whether they are early in the morning or midnight (Wills, 2019).
Conclusion
This case study highlights the different challenges that Abdullah has to come over it to ensure the success of MyClothe store. The first point Abdullah had to cover was to introduce the topic of data management and show the advantages of using the internet in the business. The second point was the data transfer by using different communication media and show these types with the advantages and disadvantages to select the best methods. The last point he covers was the different types of signals and the use of multiplexing. In the end Abdullah shows the management the importance of having MyClothes website.
