Directions
Chapters 5 & 6 of the textbook introduce us to 1) why good measurement techniques are important, and 2) to the process of developing surveys.
This week be creative and pensive.
Part 1
For this week’s assignment, design five (5) survey that:
· directly relate to your research project
· directly relate to your hypothesis
· are presented in an appropriate order / sequence
· are well phrased (no awkward wording / typos)
Once you have created your questions, prepare your paper for the week, following the guidance in “Part 2.” You will include the questions and explain their development in the Methods section of your paper. Thus, the paper will follow the outline provided in Part 2.
Part 2
Prepare an APA formatted proposal paper for your mini survey. Incorporate the following into the paper. [I am providing the organization and headers for your paper as part of the instruction set. This helps you practice the heading levels according to APA formatting guidelines.] Note, the start of all paragraphs should be indented. Do NOT include text in brackets [ ]. The text inside the brackets is to help you identify heading levels.

Title of Your Paper Here [Level 1 heading]
Present an introductory paragraph, presenting your topic of study.
Hypothesis to be Tested [Level 2 heading]
In a paragraph, introduce your hypothesis (or hypotheses) and operationally define your variables.*
*This means you will operationally define what you what to assess. For example, if you are studying creativity, you might define it as: the creation of a valuable, useful, new product, service, idea, procedure, or process by individuals, working alone or together in small groups, in a complex social setting (Amabile, 1988; Woodman et al., 1993).
Why a Survey [Level 2]
In a paragraph, describe how a survey approach will be useful to you.
Methods [Level 1 heading]
Materials [this is a Level 2 heading]
My questions [this is a Level 3 heading]
Introduce your five (5) questions. Describe how your questions [independent variables] test your hypotheses. Explain what are you operationalizing. That is describe how you are operationalizing any constructs assessed by your questions.
Measure [Level 3 heading]
In a paragraph, describe your measure [dependent variable]. Identify and describe the scale (Likert, semantic differential, Borgadus, Guttman) or indices you selected and explain why.
In a second paragraph, outline wat level of measurement is being employed. That is, describe the levels of measurement (NOIR: nominal, ordinal, interval, ratio) applied.
*This is addressed in Chapter 5 of our book.
Design [Level 2 heading]
Justify why your survey questions are good survey question using the standards describe in sections 6.2, 6.3, 6.4, and 6.5 of out textbook.
Order effects [Level 3 heading]
First, address how you plan to control for order effects.
Social desirability
[Level 3 heading]
Explain how you plan to control for social desirability.
Control for leading questions
[Level 3 heading]
Explain how you will control for leading questions.
Format
Your paper must presented in proper APA 7e format.
