Evaluation of a Childcare Facility.
Child care facilities have a role to play in helping the children get the energy and nourishment they need to have healthy growth. This can be achieved by providing healthy meals at the right time, maintaining high standards of sanitation, accommodating the needs of children with allergies or any other special needs.
In the childcare facility, children were fed at intervals of between 3-4 hours. Typically, the children arrive at school at 8 am. They are given a snack before they start the day. At 10 am the children get to have milk or tea depending on preference. At 1 pm the children have their lunch. At 4 pm they get to have another snack as they wait to be picked from school by their parents. The other thing I noted was that meals were served family-style to respond to children’s hunger and fullness cues.
In my child care facility, I will address food allergies, special needs, and the cultural preferences of the students by creating diverse meal plans that comprise of different foods. This way, the children are not limited to just one choice but rather can have a meal that suits their needs. The meals and snacks provided will be in accordance with children’s Dietary Guidelines. I will ensure I obtain medical reports of the children with allergies stating the exact components that should be omitted from their diet and what can be used as a substitute. I will go through all ingredient labels to avoid serving the allergy-causing food to the said children.
