Assignment
(Note from me: you have already help with the main part of the assignment. The part that I want you to work on now is to help me responds to two post from to different colleagues. I have attached their post so read it and give a respond to their post. Just a page or less will be fine as long as it meets the discussion)

POSTING # 1
Introduction
Hello everyone!
My leadership experiences are not related to healthcare/nursing, but I previously served at my church as a Sunday school teacher and I am a part of what we call the “Hope Force”. The Hope Force consists of different teams that work towards serving our members and making each Sunday experience better. As servant leaders we use our gifts, talents, abilities, and desires in order to accomplish the vision and mission of the church. Lastly, this may not be considered so much of a unique fact about myself but I enjoy singing and I lead praise and worship at my church.
Leadership and Management
In my opinion, I feel as though the words leadership and management get used interchangeably when they are two entirely different functions. Nonetheless, leaders should also have sufficient management knowledge and capabilities, both functions should also be able to unify to share the same vision, work towards a common goal and mission. Leadership is being able to motivate and empower a group of individuals towards a common goal. Leadership involves being able to teach, influence, provide guidance and lead by example. Furthermore, I view management as being an overseer, ensuring that things remain under control and that individuals are fulfilling the roles and assignments successfully. Management reinforces and upholds the principles and vision of the organization.
Ideally, a nurse leader would have to find a balance between these two functions to ensure success and a positive working environment for the nursing staff. A nurse leader should not view themselves to be greater or more superior than other nurses, they should possess the ability to inspire, influence, motivate and provide the skills and tools needed by nurses aspiring to leadership positions. The goal should be to raise up and equip other nurses with the skills to one day be able to take on such great responsibility. I believe that honesty and integrity foster this effective leadership and creates an environment where other nurses are comfortable to step outside of their comfort zones and to ultimately trust those who have been placed in leadership positions. An article titled Principles of leadership: Leadership Management reveals that “Leaders build trusting relationships between themselves and followers by being truthful or non-deceitful and by showing high consistency between word and deed” (Kest, 2006). I feel that one could never go wrong if they strive to lead with moral character, as it should be the foundation to healthy working relationships and success.
Leadership Assessment
My type of leadership style was steward. As I was reading the description of this style of leadership, the line that stood out to me the most was that “Stewards are the rocks of organizations” and I immediately thought of the parable where the wise man built his house on the solid rock. A solid rock is a strong and firm foundation, one can be confident that their house will not be shaken or destroyed by rain, floods, or wind. In this same manner, a steward is a strong and firm foundation to build a successful group of individuals, as well as to create a thriving and fruitful team. Without a strong foundation whatever is being built will crumble before it even gets a chance to thrive and flourish. If I were leading a team in my respective workplace or clinical setting, my leadership style would be to be dependable, trustworthy and providing a stabilizing and calming force for my team, so that they may thrive and feel empowered to provide quality and safe care to every patient.
Lastly, I would say that a benefit to this leadership style is that it will allow me to build healthy working relationships and will foster unity within my team. A drawback to this would be that as a leader I must be able to discern and recognize when I need help and to not be afraid of showing vulnerability.

POSTING # 2
I was once the assistant manager of a Giant Food store a few years ago and learned first-hand that the customer is always right. A little fact about me I love butterflies however I am terrified of caterpillars.
When I think of leadership, I think of a noble character of an individual who possesses that drives and inspires others to complete a task at hand. An individual exhibiting leadership balances both the strength and weaknesses of his team and pays keen attention to individuals of the team’s needs be it emotional or otherwise. In contrast, management is an official post assigned to an individual. Moreover, management tends to focus on meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), controlling and organizing the day-to-day operation of the organization. To simply put it, leadership focuses on sharing its goals with each team member and executing them collectively while management is geared towards the system and policies of the organization. Thus, leadership is people-centered while management is business-centered.
My ideal nursing leader would exhibit traits such as having accountability for one’s action and the ability to motivate me, display honesty, use effective communication methods, and possesses’ emotional intelligence. Furthermore, the ideal nursing leader helps retain employees since turnover is expensive for any organization. I can certainly attest that good leadership is key in employees sticking around or quitting (Western Governors University, 2020). In addition, studies show that leaders with high emotional intelligence are more likely to stay calm under pressure, resolve conflict effectively, and respond to co-workers with empathy (Landry, 2019).
The results of the leadership assessment revealed my primary leadership style is the steward leadership style. This style of leadership encompasses being dependable, loyal and is deemed as the rock of organization. This form of leadership believes that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link (Leadership Styles Quiz: Which Of These Different Leadership Styles Do You Use?, n.d.). I would use strategies when leading my team such as igniting their passion and incorporating their strengths and even their weaknesses to drive my shared vision for the department and organization at large. I will value each team members’ idea and foster a sense of unisons “ the chain”.
There are benefits with steward leadership such as providing employees with security, consistency, and cohesion which solidify the culture of the organization. However, in contrast, a downfall of steward leadership is that leaders live by their values even when it is inconvenient and challenging and thus might be in a constant battle to maintain their values and attributes.
