AT &T is a multinational telecommunication dealer and is actually one of the largest telecommunication companies in the world. The company is an embodiment of innovation and it is for this reason that the organization has continued to thrive. The organization has capitalized on its strengths and opportunities with the aim of increasing its profitability. There are however several challenges that the organization faces. Carrying out a SWOT analysis on the company is very important in mapping the way forward for the organization.
Strengths
AT &T believes that having competent workforce is the only way to improve their brands and to satisfy customer needs. The company, therefore, has the people with the best technical skills and this has worked to the advantage of the organization. The company has several distribution channels that ensure that customers get their products. Having adopted an online customers service technique has also made it easy for customers to order and to have their products delivered.
The company is known for its high-quality products and services and its good customer relations. This has contributed greatly to customer loyalty in the company. Its high production quality that entails high technological skills is also a real strength of the company. The leadership of the company from the chairperson to the executive team is also committed to providing high-quality services to their clients. The very able managerial team in the company is also strength in the organization.
Weaknesses
With the rapidly changing customer needs and market trends, AT&T has shown some kind of laxity in adapting to new market trends. This can be attributed to the absence of important skills in the organization. This, therefore, means that the company is left behind even with the changes in the market trends.
With the increase in the number of telecommunication companies in the world, customers opt for the companies with the best products and services. Customers have therefore sought their products and services from other telecommunication providers owing to the high-quality products provided by other companies. AT&T has therefore had low customer retention and this has contributed greatly to the decrease in profitability in the company. There is, therefore, need for AT&T to work on the quality of its products to ensure that it retains its customers.
Opportunities
AT&T has numerous opportunities that it could grab to increase its profitability. The untapped markets all over the world would be a sure way of increasing profitability for the organization. Forming mergers and joint alliances with other telecommunication providers would also ensure the company increases its profitability. This would also ensure that AT&T is able to tap into the untapped markets. Carrying out vigorous research on the market trends would also ensure that the company is at par with the changing market trends and the customer needs (Plesničar, and Zaletel-Kragelj, 2010).
Threats
The changes in the market trends and the customer needs require a progressive system that constantly seeks to find out on the changing trends. This could be rather expensive for AT&T to put up. Closing geographical markets is also expensive for AT&T as opposed to other telecommunication companies like apple that are great rivals of the company. This, therefore, gives rival companies an added advantage over the AT&T Company.
Conclusion
AT&T Company has several strengths and opportunities. Tapping into the untapped markets, forming mergers and moving with the market trends will ensure that the company increases its profitability. Working off their technological skills and devising ways to retain its customers will also work to increase productivity and profitability of the organization.
