Proposed Models for IT Infrastructure Standardization
The process that should be used by the IVK is the second proposal the strict enforcement. The infrastructure technology structure can be best assumed by the IT people and hence this model should be used. This model occupied the other end of the model as this was opposed by the managers because the IT people will ultimately control it. The IT people will decide the standards of the system that has to be installed, and they will have full authority to enforce it. If this option is used then, the whole system has to be moved off, and the platform has to be changed.
The technologies that should be used must be decided by the IT team as they are the person who knows which system should be utilized to maintain the company’s profit as well as the throughput (Austin et al., 2012). The business managers were against it as they will have to move against the packages and tools that they liked. The IT people raised great questions like is it worth of using four different kinds of PDA’s some wants the sleek one, and the others want the short chunky one. The IT people were advocating for this model as this will benefit them in maintaining the whole It system properly and this will also benefit the company.
a) Current IKV happening regarding technology standardization and is it good or bad state
The main head that is the CIO of the IT department should decide which technology should be used for the company, and this will be best for the company. The current scenario in terms of IT standardization is that the company wants to follow a dedicated strategy for maintaining the IT infrastructure as it is becoming uncontrollable and too much money is being spent on it. It is a state that is good for the future of the company as it will decide the proper maintenance of the company’s IT department.
b) Three proposed system change the state and how
Yes, these three proposed system changes the state of the company as these systems will be decided by all the heads of the company and they all will want to keep their views regarding it. The heads of each department will see their benefits first then will think about the IT people or the company (Austin et al., 2012). If the first system is used then, the management will be benefitted more, if the second system is used then the IT people will be benefitted more and if the third system is used then it will take too much time to know the exact result of the system.
Impact of IT Infrastructure Standardization on Business Agility
Yes, the standardization and innovation in the IT department are in conflict for the IVK Company as all the departments want to see their perspective before thinking about the company. The It department has been the sole sufferer in the IVK as all the other departments used technologies that they liked and this caused the IT department to maintain four different types of PDA’s (Austin et al., 2012). It consumed more time in maintenance of the systems, and it cost them more money, and this deteriorated the flexibility in the business. The company was facing severe issues in all the departments related to IT infrastructure of the company. All the departments wanted their benefit first then thought about the rest of the things.
a) Is there Relationship between IT standardization and business agility or innovation
Yes, there is a relationship between the IT standardization and the business agility as the IT standardization of the company helps in the overall maintenance of the business because IT is used in everywhere. The business agility cannot be gained if the IT infrastructure or standardization is not done from time to time and the company will lag behind its competitors in some scenarios. The business agility is maintained by the It standardization of any company.
b) Is innovation or agility important for IVK in financial service industry
The innovation is important for any company maybe in whatever sector as it plays a vital role in the successful growth of the company. The agility is also important as it is needed for the proper growth of the business. The financial service of the IVK dependent on the IT infrastructure and its standardization as they do not have a proper or dedicated IT plan in their business that is costing them more in its maintenance. The IT has become a part of every industry as technologies are used in every field now in the small or big industry. The financial services can be improved by using appropriate products and maintaining it.
