Lab #4
Superposition and Linearity
Objective
This experiment aims at illustrating the concept of circuit analysis using superposition. The superposition principle states that the voltage across (or current through) an element in a linear circuit is the algebraic sum of the voltages across (or currents through) that element due to each independent source acting alone.
Circuit analysis using superposition is done in steps taking one source at a time. Due to voltage sources, open-circuit current sources and solve for the current and voltage. Due to current sources, short-circuit voltage sources and solve for the current and voltage. The desired current or voltage is the sum of the contributions of all sources.
A linear circuit is one whose output is linearly related (or directly proportional) to its input.
