Kayla Jiggetts
Hello everyone!
My name is Kayla, I am 22 and I reside in the DMV area. There is so much to do here in Washington D.C., where I work. I am originally from southern Virginia, so I am not far from family (which can be cool and annoying). I was stationed in Japan for two years, which was a huge culture shock and a lot of fun! I am active-duty Air Force in logistics readiness. My family here is, my new puppy and I and we love exploring! My favorite things to do are, to see new sites and attractions like: waterfalls, the Lurray Caverns, tours to the monuments and museums, enjoying new restaurants and socializing with different cultures. I sometimes like to volunteer in the community, when I can, to help others in need and to learn more about the people who are less fortunate in such a high society area.
This is my first college class and I am very anxious to learn. I am working towards my BA in psychology, since I’m very passionate about human behavior and the mind. I hope this class can perfect my abilities to transgress my dialog and my academic voice into being more direct and creative while, helping me to perform and grow professionally and personally with others. I also think this class will be very beneficial since, my job is all communication. The better I am at writing and social skills, the better I can progress in my career.
I would like to think of myself as always being a writer, I have always journaled or written notes to myself and others, about everything, but mostly how I feel. It helps me to really dissect my thoughts and feelings and get my point across better to other people. I don’t know if it is because I’m young, but I’ve always liked texting because, I can think about what I want to say and write it out. Sometimes in person, I forget important things I want say or I come across as being too blunt with my dialect, with writing I can understand what I’m reading and respond in a more empathetic manner. I believe this class will help me open up my vocabulary and strengthen my formatting.
I look forward to this with you all, best of luck!

Raul Moreno
Greetings Mr. Young and fellow classmates! My name is Raul Moreno III. I’m 31 years old and I reside in Southern California. I’m married. My wife is 32 years old, and we have three children together. My oldest is 10 years old, she’ll be 11 in March. My second oldest is 9 years old and my youngest is 3 years old. Two girls and one boy. I love to surf, song writing and making music. My previous job title was an installer/remodeler for a company that has a sub-contract with The Home Depot and after ten years of working with wood and laminate I decided to quit. I am now focusing the majority of my time on school. This is my first year in college. I enrolled with the intention of obtaining a bachelor’s degree in natural sciences with a concentration in biology. I chose this path mainly to complete the prerequisites that are needed to earn a seat in the army’s IPAP program.
Now, for the course objectives. It is very important for a physician’s assistant to understand and make sense and be clear of what they are writing. Gathering and evaluating sources of information or produce oral and written presentations error free will help me relay the correct information when and if requested of me. When it comes to applying the documentation formats. I honestly have no clue what that is, but I intend to learn, thus, the reason I chose ENG 110. Learning to demonstrate the understanding of academic voice, and adapting format and language to topic, purpose and audience, will also help me in my career path. Another goal for me, which I know plays a big part in working with doctors and patients, is the ability to support assertions with evidence and gather and evaluate sources of information. creating framework using thesis, introduction, support and conclusion is a great way to properly and effectively communicate with patients and doctors.
Why do you write? I write to express the emotions or ideas I have at any given moment, sometimes.
What kind of writing do you typically do now? lots of times, I have lyric ideas to put into a song, especially when laying down before going to sleep. Majority of the time, I put it off and say I’ll remember it tomorrow. Big mistake, because it’s rare that I do remember, and end up kicking myself for not writing the ideas down at that moment. I also have a journal that I should write in more often.
What kind of writing would you like to do? I would like to do “creative writing.” Creating stories using fictional characters. I will eventually start doing that, as soon as I start learning how to write correctly lol. I’m sure you guys can tell; writing isn’t one of my strengths. Hopefully, after passing this class it will be.
Specific identities. The characters I use, are all me, if that makes any sense.? When writing lyrics, I guess I write as a creator. It’s from my experiences in life. When writing in my journal, I guess I’m writing to myself as a friend. It’s how I feel or something I went through that day. The trait I have when writing as a lyric creator, is the ability to rhyme words. The trait I have when writing in my journal is being able to be very honest. Not sure if I did this right.
