You are currently interested in pursuing a career as a research associate.
As a starting point you have received the opportunity to write for Business Insider, a leading business sector periodical in Pakistan.
Task 1
You need to investigate a large business organisation (local or international) of your choice that has 250 or more employees. You need to use your research to write a case study on the human resource processes and motivation in the business. You can choose any large business that has a transparent and easily accessible human resource system.
The case study should evaluate the human resource processes, motivational strategies and how these link to business success.
The case study should explore human resource planning, motivational strategies and employee and business performance. Using research from a variety of sources, your case study must include:
1. Introduction
2. Human resource planning
• An explanation of the processes that are involved when the selected business plans its human resources
• An explanation of the various methods used by the selected business to review human resource practices and why this is important to business planning.
• An explanation of the challenges faced by the selected business and how these have influenced the human resource planning
• A detailed examination of the inter-relationship between the importance of effective human resource planning and business success.
• A supported judgement on the relevance or significance to the business success of the various human resource methods and processes.
3. Motivation
• An explanation of the links between motivation theories/strategies and business performance
• An explanation of the strategies and how these are used in the selected business to manage and motivate its employees.
• A careful consideration of the various motivation strategies the selected business uses to improve the motivation of its employees
• Details of the relevance or significance of the various strategies the selected business uses to improve the motivation of its employees
• A judgement on which motivation strategies have the most important link to improving business performance
• Justified recommendations for the ways in which the selected business can improve employee motivation
Task 2
Using the organization you have selected for Task 1, conduct in-depth research to create a presentation that critically examines the effectiveness of the recruitment and selection processes used in the chosen organization.
In your presentation, you must:
· demonstrate an understanding of the reasons a business may need to recruit staff, remembering recruitment can be both internal and external
· demonstrate understanding of the different recruitment methods and why these are used
· consider the contribution of external bodies to the recruitment and selection process
· discuss the purpose of the different documents used in the recruitment and selection process, and there impact on effective recruitment
· consider the cost effectiveness of different approaches to reviewing applications
· review of how the business assesses and selects the successful applicants, considering both the strengths and weaknesses of the processes
· include the ethical and legal considerations the organisation must consider when recruiting new employees, or selecting existing employees for training or promotion.
