I decided to do my research on Walt Disney’s corporate social responsibility. The reason I choose this company is because I believe it’s one we’ve all come across in our lives, the company is well known and popular.
The way I would describe my own civic engagement would be as improving myself, for example my skills, my values and also my knowledge. Striking for a better change for myself and around me. Civic engagement has impacted my life because everyday I want to improve myself and I also want to stay motivated. I consider this being healthy in life. My past civic engagements have taught me a lot that I need to know for my identity and future goals, because of the past I know it’s ok to better myself, I believe we are all learning as we go.
In 1923 Walt Disney signed a contract with M.J winkler to produce the series of alice comedies. This was the star of the Disney company, also known as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio.
For many years people from all over the world know about the company Disney. “For more than 9 decades, disney has created entertainment of the very highest quality.” I Myself do believe this because I grew up watching Disney and till this day I still do.
Disney’s CSR helps employees participate in communities by staying committed to creating and maintaining workplace environments that support 220,000 employees. Anyone that is working for Disney is also working for a company that wants the best in life for their employees and also the employees’ families. Disney provides many benefits for their employees for example health and wellness, flexibility and family support, diversity and inclusion and professional and personal development. Disney also launched a childcare program with a 10 million annual commitment to help subsidize the cost of child care expenses for this company’s employees. This includes, referral assistance for child care, center discounts, homework help and many other things. They also think it’s really important to give employees enough time to bond with their children. I think that’s really cool, not many companies do this for their employees.
At Walt Disney employees can grow personally and professionally since this company does offer programs for more than 94,000 employees. Disney has said “Education is the key to opportunity.” Which is why they offer these education programs, so employees can grow and learn and better their education while also being at work.
While doing my research I found out that Disney’s civic engagement is all about taking it day by day but also improving and learning as they go. They have come so far since 1923 and they only keep growing bigger and bigger. Walt Disney has made a change and I do believe they will continue to do so, they will continue to work for a change. One example I have is that they have also committed to saving wildlife and are also building a global community that is inspired to protect the planet.
