Integrative nursing 9:
Welcome to Week 9 where we will take a look at holistic leadership and how to effect change.
This week’s assignment calls for you to propose via PPT, a SPECIFIC change in the form of a healing space or a holistic nursing practice approach that could be incorporated into your hospital.
There must be a minimum of five to eight content slides. This does not include the title or reference slides. No points will be deducted if you go over the minimum. Also required are robust speaker notes.
Again….Please note:
This presentation is not intended as a general discussion of the benefits of healing spaces or approaches. It requires discussion of a
specific
type of healing space or holistic nursing approach to implement in your facility. Here are some examples from past student presentations:
HEALING
· Structural changes: east-facing windows, acoustic ceiling tiles in patient rooms, sensory rooms, barrier free rooms, family rooms
· garden rooms or patios for patients
· rooms with waterfalls or music
· M Technique Massage for neonates
· patient rooms that allow them to choose art work for the walls
APPROACHES
· Therapeutic communication styles (NURSING APPROACH)
· ‘Tell Me More’ communication approach (NURSING APPROACH)
· Integrative Nurse Coaching
· Town Hall meetings for nursing staff
· Pursuit of Magnet status
· Initiating the Integrative Healing Arts Academy (IHAA) for staff nurses within the hospital
