Peer Review for Fake Research Essay
Please read your assigned partner’s rough draft thoroughly and carefully. Then provide paragraph responses of at least 75 words each for each of the six questions below.
1. Please comment on the formatting of your partner’s essay. Questions to ponder include: Does the paper match the formatting of the sample provided in eCampus? Is the heading correct? Is there a title? Is the title effective? How could the title be improved? Is the essay properly spaced throughout? Are the margins too wide/too narrow? Is the font size too big/too small? Is the essay long enough? Is there a separate Works Cited page?
2. Please comment on the introduction. Questions to ponder include: Is there a clear connection between the title and the introduction? Does the introduction present the writer’s claim? Is the claim argumentative with a clear stance? Is the claim underlined? Is there a clear connection between the introduction and the analysis of the traits? Are you intrigued enough by the introduction to want to continue reading?
3. Please comment on the development of ideas throughout the essay. Questions to ponder include: Does each body paragraph focus on a specific trait? Is each body paragraph fully developed? Do any of the body paragraphs have information that doesn’t belong within them? Does each body paragraph include fake research? Where could the writer supply additional evidence or better evidence?
4. Please comment on the fake support materials used. Questions to ponder include: Are all five sources included on the Works Cited page? Are there at least five direct quotations within the essay? Does each direct quotation have quotation marks around it? Does each direct quotation have a parenthetical citation after it? Is each quotation smoothly integrated into the paragraph?
5. Please comment on the conclusion. Questions to ponder include: Is the conclusion effective? Is the conclusion clearly tied to the introduction? Is any new information introduced in the conclusion? Does the conclusion bring a sense of completeness or closure to the argument?
6. Finally, please comment on any big issues you see with grammar, spelling, punctuation, or usage. Questions to ponder include: Does the essay have any sentence boundary issues (fragments, fused run-on sentences, comma splices)? Are there any wrong words used (there instead of their, it’s instead of its, etc.)? Are there any misspelled words? Does the writer use first person or second person anywhere in the essay?
