Discussion #5
The research process involves gathering, evaluating, and analyzing a large amount of data in order to answer a research question and come up with results. There are seven stages in the research process: problem recognition, literature evaluation, issue clarification, description of terminology and concepts, demographic definition, design of the operational plan, data collecting, and analysis of data (Fisher & Bloomfield, 2019). It is imperative that researchers adhere to this procedure when conducting their work in order to get accurate results.
When it comes to providing the finest possible healthcare services, experienced nurses adopt a methodical approach known as the nursing process (Toney-Butler & Thayer, 2020). Using the nursing process is a crucial part of nursing education and practice. As a problem-solving approach, it helps identify a patient’s healthcare needs and provides them with individualized care. As a result, the recipient of the care is more likely to be happy with the quality of the care they are receiving (Toney-Butler & Thayer, 2020). Evaluation, nursing diagnosis, preparation, execution, and treatment are all parts of this process.
Evidence-based practice is defined by the American University Medical Center as the incorporation of clinical experience, patient values, and the latest research findings into the treatment decisions of patients (Lehane et al., 2019). According to EBP, the best evidence comes from health experts and opinion leaders when making decisions. Searching for and using the most reliable evidence in any healthcare practice is part of it.
A commonality between the three concepts is that they are all methodological processes that necessitate activity in order to achieve the best and most accurate results. One further thing they all have in common is the fact that they all necessitate the employment of specialists in their respective professions who are qualified to carry out these treatments. The three procedures necessitate knowledge, experience, and skill. It is also important to note that the three processes are interdependent. One cannot learn about the nursing process without the other because of the interdependence of their respective fields of study.
However, their differences are primarily based on what they are trying to accomplish. When it comes to planning and delivering care to patients, the nursing process relies on the application of already-developed information, while EBP emphasizes the development of new knowledge. Clinical practice is thus based on the most up-to-date research. Research is the most strenuous among all three processes due to the volume of work required to gather data on a novel idea. The outcomes or findings of the experiments are also different (Keib et al., 2017). As a nurse, you are responsible for improving the health of patients, their families, and the community as a whole through doing research and generating new information.
In a nutshell, all three processes are important in the practice of nursing. The addition of EBP allows nurses to analyze the research to know the dangers of tests or treatments and allows patients to have prominent participation in their healthcare because they can address their displeasure and give suggestions on how they want to be handled.

Identification of Main Issues, Problems, and Concepts |
The discussion shows a clear understanding of the main issues, problems and concept. It discusses extensively the three processes of research process, evidence-based practice and nursing process. The post indicated that nursing process, research process and evidence-based practice follow a systematic method of collecting data. Research process collects data for the sake of analyzing and concluding to develop new knowledge. Evidence based practice on the other hand uses the best available evidence, the patient perspective and clinical expertise to make clinical decision. Nursing process uses the patient data to make clinical decisions and offer client centered care. The post shows a clear understanding of these processes and goes on to show the differences and similarities. In checking the differences, it is also important to point out that while research process has a wider applicability in other fields, the nursing process and evidence-based practice can only be applied in the healthcare field. |
Use of Citations, Writing Mechanics and APA Formatting Guidelines |
The post shows an effective application of literature and other sources to inform the work. A list of references was also provided and an exceptional use of citations. APA formatting was also applied, although the post failed in using idents in paragraphs and also the required fonts of Times New Roman. |
